Registration is now open to Building Bridges: Creative Approaches to Collaboration and Engagement, a Regional VAW/CAS Symposium.

The symposium will be held on Friday, May 31st 2013 at the Lyle S. Hallman Faculty of Social Work, Wilfrid Laurier University, 120 Duke St W Kitchener.

As you may know, a regional working group with representatives from the VAW and Child Welfare sectors has been in the process of developing a regional VAW/CAS Collaboration Agreement.  The purpose of the new agreement is to promote change and a common purpose in both sectors by focusing on three priority areas: engaging men; high-risk situations; and child custody and access.  A regional consultation was held last October and since then the regional working group has been meeting to finalize the document.

The symposium on May 31st will be a forum to reflect on the collaborative foundation that was built as a result of the previous agreements and fine tune the outcomes of the new agreement.  In preparation for this discussion, we ask that you review the latest draft of the agreement (attached).  In the afternoon, there will be a panel discussion focusing on one of the guiding principles of the agreement - engaging men who use abusive behaviours and making them accountable.  See attached flyer and agenda for more details.

All executive directors, managers, supervisors of organizations who are signatories to the existing local collaboration agreements in Central West Region are encouraged to attend on May 31st.   Please register at VAW/CAS Symposium by Friday, May 24

A vegan and vegetarian lunch will be provided.  If you have any other dietary concerns, please let us know when you register.  A reminder that the Faculty of Social Work is a scent free environment.
